TV Tommy Ivo is no stranger to ” lights”. The studio variety or the Christmas Tree lights. Tommy Ivo is a veteran actor and a veteran drag racer. He first performed in front of cameras at age seven and made his first competitive drag race run at sixteen. His list of screen credits, both in movies and for television are most impressive. And so are his drag racing credits. As atop innovator in drag racing techniques and machinery he is considered one of the best. Ivo was the first to successfully build and run a four engine rail. He first built and ran a two engine dragster, which was considered an impossible task. He proved his design and mechanical skill with this machine and then moved it to a four engine creation that had four wheel drive. Named the “Showboat”, Ivo campaigned it as an exhibition racer throughout the country. In 1962 he built his first single engine nitro burning fuel dragster. He has since built fifteen different fuel cars with which he has been winning over or pushing all of the top names in the sport. His current car utilizes the Dodge 426 CID HEMI and features location of the engine behind the driver as opposed to the outdated front motor location.
