“Old Purple” Although this kit was announced way back in the 1970’s by AMT, the loss of the original mockup required a new start from scratch. All new research had to be done to create this definitive refuse truck model kit. Along the way, it was discovered that an original Garwood LP-900 was still in use on a Ford C-series chassis by Sunrise Sanitation of Goshen, Oregon. This truck, nicknamed “Old Purple” supplied much needed reference as well as inspiration. The truck wears its own patina as a time capsule of thankless service through the decades.
