*History of the M-46 Patton Tank
Named after General George S. Patton, the M-46 was designed to utilize it’s namesakes fast-moving, hard-hitting, fighting style. Weighing 47 tons, with a top speed of 36 mph of the Patton Tank was used against Communist Forces using Russian built T-34’s and Stalin Tanks during the Korean Conflict. The first Models were being tested in the Fall of 1949, with production beginning in the Spring of 1950. Two battalions were trained at Fort Hood USA and later saw their first action in Korea with the 3rd and 7th Infantry Divisions.
